Director/Coach
Scott Pizor is the Director and Head Coach of Team Phoenix, bringing over 13 years of player development experience and 7 years of team coaching to the program. A passionate teacher of the game, Pizor has trained and developed athletes from youth to professional levels, including workouts with various NBA players and countless professional/college standouts.
A former player himself, Pizor’s career spanned international play in England, Spain, and Israel, as well as semi-professional stints in Fort Worth and the Dallas Pro-Am (Swin City). His global playing experience influences his holistic approach to coaching, emphasizing fundamentals, skill mastery, and the mental side of competition.
Pizor holds a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from TCU and a Master’s in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of East London. His philosophy centers around empowering players to be confident, adaptable, and team-oriented — believing that “winning is the byproduct of doing things the right way.”
Under his leadership, Team Phoenix captured the 17U National Title in the New Balance Elevate 32 League, earning promotion into the prestigious Prelude 32. The program also claimed 3rd place at PrimeTime Nationals and secured championships at top-tier events including The Circuit, Prep Hoops, GASO, Grassroots 365, Big Foot, PrimeTime, Champions of Sports, and more.

Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the coaching arena, specializing in guiding teams towards excellence in sports and life. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from LSU Shreveport and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Science Center, Jeff is not only passionate about the game but also well-equipped with a solid educational foundation.
As a coach, Jeff is dedicated to instilling essential values in young athletes. His coaching philosophy revolves around teaching the importance of decision-making, breaking down the "why" of the game, and setting goals that prioritize the team's success over individual accomplishments. Jeff believes in the power of discipline to achieve these goals, fostering an environment where young men can grow both as players and individuals.

Coach Jaden Conner is in his second year with Team Phoenix and brings the same energy, passion, and winning mindset that defined his playing career. A Port Arthur native, Conner helped lead Port Arthur Memorial High School to the 2018 5A State Championship before spending five years playing Division III basketball — thanks to that extra COVID year.
At East Texas Baptist University, he became a Conference Champion and was named the 2023–24 Sportsmanship Player of the Year. Conner earned both his Bachelor’s in Sports Management and his Master’s in Kinesiology from ETBU.
He started his coaching career as a Volunteer Assistant at Texas Wesleyan University and now continues to pour into players with Team Phoenix. Known for his positivity, competitiveness, and connection with athletes, Coach Conner is dedicated to helping his players reach their potential on and off the court. At ETBU, he won a Conference Championship and earned the 2023–24 Sportsmanship Player of the Year honor. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Coach Perez brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his role. A former Division I football player at Wake Forest University, he has translated his passion for athletics into more than a decade of coaching excellence. Throughout his career in Texas, Coach Perez has coached football, basketball, and track at both the middle school and high school levels, developing student-athletes through disciplined training and mentorship.
Beyond school athletics, he has also contributed to the growth of youth basketball in the Metroplex, coaching with both developmental and competitive AAU programs. His commitment to athletic and personal development continues to inspire the athletes he works with to reach their highest potential.
Guided by the belief that hard work, discipline, and character build champions on and off the court, Coach Perez is dedicated to helping every athlete become the best version of themselves.

Coach Haynes boasts a remarkable journey marked by five prolific years of college basketball. Throughout this tenure, he amassed an impressive array of accolades, including multiple conference awards, and achieved a notable milestone of 1,200-1,300 career points, culminating in a memorable trip to the conference championship. Demonstrating unwavering leadership, Coach Haynes emerged as a pivotal figure within his team, guiding them to success for four out of five years.
Beyond his on-court prowess, Coach Haynes brings with him three years of invaluable experience working with youth at boys and girls clubs, coupled with a strong background in coaching club sports. His adeptness at galvanizing individuals towards collective goals is underscored by his proven ability to lead teams to surpass organizational objectives.

Matthew Butler is a professional basketball player in Venezuela’s SPB League and development coach with Team Phoenix. A proven leader on and off the court, Butler brings international playing experience and a deep understanding of skill development to the Team Phoenix program.
Before his professional career, Butler competed for five seasons at the Division I level, playing at both the University of Rhode Island and the University of Tennessee-Martin, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Sports Science.
Since turning pro, Butler has played across the globe in 8 countries: Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Albania, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Argentina, gaining a wealth of experience from diverse basketball cultures and competition levels. Driven by his belief that “the true test of achieving anything in life is overcoming adversity and challenging situations,” Butler applies that same mindset in developing athletes—helping players refine their skills, strengthen their mental approach, and perform with confidence in every environment.

Jack Lawson is a dynamic and proven scorer with a strong track record of success at both the high school and club levels. A standout at Southlake Carroll High School, Jack earned 1st Team All-District and All-DFW honors, and finished among the top five in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for three-pointers made in a single season. He led Southlake Carroll in scoring and continued that offensive leadership with Team Phoenix, where he averaged 20 points per game across the season.
Now a sophomore guard at Trinity University in San Antonio, Jack brings a high basketball IQ, sharpshooting ability, and a relentless work ethic to every team he’s part of. His commitment to excellence and competitive spirit continue to define his growth as a collegiate athlete.
